TEHAMA Awards 2025 set for next month

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in collaboration with the ICT Commission, Soft Ventures, and the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA), has officially launched the TEHAMA Awards 2025, scheduled to take place next month in Arusha.
Speaking during the launch Director of Information Systems Development and Services in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Mr Mohamed Abdi Mashaka said the event will be a platform to recognize outstanding contribution in Tanzania’s ICT sector.
‘The Ministry and ICT Commission, in partnership with Soft Ventures and TISPA, are pleased to announce the TEHAMA Awards 2025, which will be held on February 21, 2025, at the PAPU Building in Arusha,” said Mr Mashaka.
He added, “The TEHAMA Awards 2025 will celebrate individuals, organizations, and initiatives driving digital transformation, fostering innovation, and promoting inclusion within the ICT sector”.
Mr Mashaka also highlighted that the event will serve as a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to connect, collaborate, and accelerate the growth of Tanzania’s digital economy.
On his part, ICT Commission Director General Dr Nkundwe Mwasaga, has emphasized the importance of the awards in recognizing and celebrating the role of ICT in Tanzania’s development.

He said that ICT has transformed the lives of Tanzanians and streamlined operations, underscoring the role of the awards in encouraging innovation, efficiency, and collaboration in the sector.
He further invited innovators, ICT leaders, startups, public and private sector institutions, and organizations across Tanzania to participate in this year’s awards by submitting nominations in various categories.
He highlighted 10 main categories with a total of 22 awards, including Innovation in ICT Products or Services, Best Use of ICT, ICT for Social Impact, Young ICT Achiever, Women in ICT, ICT Security.
Others are Public Sector ICT Project, Sustainable ICT, The TISPA Award for Best Internet Connectivity Provider and The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Lifetime Achievement in ICT.
‘A total of 22 awards to be presented, each of the categories carries a number of subcategories that reflect different sectors and industries,” he said
He noted that applications, registrations, and nominations are open until February 10, 2025, and can be submitted via www.tehamaawards.tz.
Moreover, Soft Ventures’ founding partner, Mr Daniel Mhina, pledged to continue collaborating with the Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the ICT Awards.
He encouraged other stakeholders to support the efforts in recognizing and enhancing the contributions of individuals and organizations in the ICT sector.
