TARURA cautions the public of possible dangers heading into the wet season

DAR ES SALAAM: THE public has been urged to take precautions and remain vigilant during the rainy season to avoid possible dangers caused by flooding in road infrastructure areas.

The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), Engineer Victor Seff, during the opening of a two-day working session for the Agency’s management, Regional Managers, and coordinators of emergency projects, being held in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the meeting, Engineer Seff said the rainy season increases the risk of accidents and damage to infrastructure, making it important for road users to observe all road safety signs when using roads.

“It is better, when there is a bridge, and the water level has risen above the bridge, for people to wait rather than attempting to cross, as this can cause accidents to those crossing or to vehicles trying to pass through such areas,” the CEO said.

He added, “I would like to emphasize that we should be cautious for our own safety, but also for the safety of the infrastructure that has been installed there.”

Moreover, he urged citizens to report to their offices whenever damage to infrastructure occurs as a result of the rains so that timely interventions can be made and potential accidents prevented.
