Tap economic empowerment platforms, women told
DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has urged women to take full advantage of the various economic empowerment opportunities promoted by the government, particularly through Women Economic Empowerment Platforms (WEEPs), which have played a key role in improving livelihoods across the country.
Speaking during the launch of the Dodoma Women’s Day event, Ms Senyamule said President Samia Suluhu Hassan is keen to see more women utilise these government-supported platforms to advance their economic well-being.
“Through these platforms, women have received support from both public and private sectors to increase their incomes and achieve economic growth. It is the president’s wish that women embrace and fully benefit from the opportunities presented through the Women Economic Empowerment Platforms,” said the RC.
She noted that WEEPs are a strategic tool to promote gender equality and reduce dependency by encouraging self-reliance and active participation in incomegenerating activities.

Also speaking at the event, Deputy Chairperson of the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Foundation, Mr Peter Mavunde, encouraged women to be proactive and support the sixth-phase government’s efforts under President Samia, particularly initiatives aimed at women’s economic empowerment.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Dodoma Region Women Economic Empowerment Platform, Ms Mary Mabaya, reaffirmed the commitment of local women to identify and seize available economic opportunities in the region.
She expressed confidence that regional authorities would continue to support their ambitions in alignment with the president’s vision.
The Dodoma Women’s Day initiative forms part of the platform’s broader strategy to promote gender equality and enhance women’s economic participation.
During the event, a series of sessions were held to inspire economic self-awareness, encourage independence and explore women’s roles in combating gender-based violence, promoting ethics and supporting positive child development.
