Tanzanians urged to engage in beekeeping activities
MINISTER for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Pindi Chana, has urged Tanzanian citizens engaged in beekeeping to pursue modern hive education to boost honey production.
This announcement was made during her visit to Rukwa region, where she also inspected various development projects.
The initiative follows a recent export deal with China, highlighting the government’s commitment to meeting international quality standards in honey production, which currently generates over $77 million annually.

Additionally, Tanzania will host the World Congress of Beekeepers from September 20-25, 2027, organized by the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations (APIMONDIA).
The country was selected due to its beekeeping practices that prioritize both honey yield and bee health.
