Tanzanian tourism envisions a superior 2025/26

DODOMA: Promoting both domestic and international tourism is among the key priorities the Tanzanian government has identified for implementing under its 2025/26 National Development Plan.
The Development Plan focuses on 10 major initiatives in the tourism sector.
These projects were selected based on specific criteria and aim to drive significant growth in the industry.
The key areas of focus include promoting both domestic and international tourism, developing strategic tourism products, enhancing infrastructure and conservation efforts, integrating modern technologies in wildlife management, and improving revenue collection systems.

Minister of State for Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, revealed these details today in Dodoma while presenting the 2025/26 National Development Plan and the country’s economic outlook.
He said these tourism projects aim to achieve key targets, including increasing the sector’s contribution to GDP to 18.9 percent, attracting 5 million international tourists, and expanding domestic tourism.
Also, it targets extending the average tourist stay to 14 days, raising daily tourist spending to 276 US dollars, and boosting the sector’s foreign exchange earnings to 27 percent. The government expects these initiatives to generate up to 6 billion US dollars in tourism revenue.
