Tanzania to begin trials of universal health insurance.

DODOMA: THE President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, has said that the government is in the process of starting trials of the implementation of universal Health Insurance soon.

President Samia said this today, November 14, 2025, while addressing the 13th Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dodoma.

“We are preparing to start trials of universal health insurance, the government will come to you, Honorable Members of Parliament, with proposals on how to make these trials successful,” said President Samia while urging members of Parliament to support these trials which will be the beginning of reforms in access to quality health services for all people in the country.

To achieve the goal of access to quality health services for all, President Samia has said that the government is determined to digitally connect health care centers in the country and ensure that they have good equipment with appropriate standards of services at each relevant level.

“The government intends to set similar standards so that health insurance users in urban and rural areas are comparable,” said President Samia.

President Samia has urged all citizens to prioritize health by ensuring they invest in their health by having health insurance.
