Tanzania throws last dice at Paris Olympics

THE Paris Olympics campaign for Tanzania is reaching its conclusion, with Tanzania pinning its hopes for a medal on the shoulders of four determined athletes: Alphonce Simbu, Gabriel Geay, Magdalena Shaurina and Jackline Sakilu.

These athletes are aiming to make history in long-distance running, a feat that Tanzanian athletes have not achieved for over four decades. Since the 1980 Moscow Olympics, Tanzania has been awaiting a breakthrough on the Olympic stage.

The nation’s Olympic medal cabinet remains sparse, with only two silver medals earned long ago.  However, now the stage is set for these four exceptional athletes to potentially rewrite history.

Alphonce Simbu and Gabriel Geay, alongside Magdalena Shaurina and Jackline Sakilu, are not only representing their country but also carrying the weight of national pride and a collective dream of Olympic success.

Each athlete brings a rich history of achievements and records to the table.

This is more than just a final race; it’s a moment of national pride and a chance to fill the empty spaces in Tanzania’s Olympic history.

As the last four Tanzanian envoys prepare to take their final strides in Paris, the nation holds its breath, hoping for the long-awaited glory that will shine a light on Tanzania’s Olympic journey.
