Tanzania Teachers Union sees changes in leadership
DODOMA: THE Tanzania Teachers Union (TTU) has elected Suleiman Ikomba its new president in the General Election held in Dodoma today.
Ikomba contested for the presidency against the former president, Leah Ulaya, and 17 other candidates.
Ikomba, who formerly served as the vice president, won the post after hauling 680 votes.

In his victory speech, Ikomba emphasized solidarity among teachers.

Ikomba, who previously served in various positions within the union, has been a prominent advocate for teachers’ rights and has consistently fought for improved working conditions for TTU members.

During the meeting, Joseph Misabala was announced as the union’s General Secretary.
The secretary won by a landslide, securing 742 votes.
