Tanzania targets 29bn/- from gaming after reaping 17.42bn/- in 2024/25

DODOMA: THE gaming sector has generated 17.42bn/- in government revenue during the 2024/2025 financial year, with plans to collect 29.89bn/- in the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

This was announced today in Parliament by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, during the presentation of the implementation review of the 2024/2025 budget and the proposed budget for 2025/2026.

Dr. Nchemba stated that for the 2024/2025 financial year, the Gaming Board of Tanzania had initially set a target of collecting 24.89bn/-, but has so far collected 17.42bn/-.

For the 2025/2026 financial year, the Board plans to issue 14,124 licenses, including 845 new licenses and 13,279 renewals. Additionally, the Board will conduct 12 risk-based inspections; implement four operations to curb illegal gambling activities, and aims to collect a total of 29.89bn/- in revenue.
