Tanzania sees all hospitals with CT Scan as it marks JKCI’s 10th anniversary

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has made a significant investment in the procurement of CT scan machines for all regional hospitals across the country.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Seif Shekalaghe, announced today, August 15, 2025, that the initiative aims to ensure all Tanzanians can access diagnostic and specialized medical services within their regions, eliminating the need to travel long distances in search of such care.

Dr. Shekalaghe made the remarks during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), held at the University of Dar es Salaam’s Library Auditorium.

He further noted that this investment has been accompanied by specialized training for doctors and nurses to enable them to deliver high-quality services using the advanced equipment.

“The Government, through the Ministry of Health, continues to strengthen the health sector to ensure that citizens receive reliable and high-quality services. This is in line with the Ministry’s core policy of ensuring the quality of healthcare facilities and the ongoing preparations for the Universal Health Insurance Scheme,” said Dr. Shekalaghe.

This major investment is expected to significantly improve access to specialized healthcare across the country and ease the burden on national hospitals that have long been overstretched by patients from various regions.
