Tanzania pledges to continue funding technical education

TUNDUMA: THE Tanzanian government has pledged to continue to fund technical education in the 2025/2026 financial year, including providing meals to 18,316 students in various technical and vocational institutions nationwide.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Prof Daniel Mushi made the statement when representing the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Adolf Mkenda, as the Guest of Honour at the 19th Graduation Ceremony, Third Session, of the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), Songwe Campus.
Additionally, the Deputy Permanent Secretary said that the government will also finance Industrial Practical Training (IPT) for 2,085 students.
In his remarks, Prof Mushi said that the government has continued to make substantial investments in technical and vocational education across the country, including financing students’ meals and industrial practical training, as part of efforts to produce a skilled workforce that meets labour market demands and drives national development.

“All these initiatives are part of the government’s broader strategy to ensure the country produces competent practical professionals capable of stimulating economic growth and addressing societal challenges,” he said.
He further congratulated graduates of the Diploma in Civil Engineering and those who completed Level Two plumbing trades, noting that the education and skills they have acquired are a valuable asset to themselves, their families and the nation at large.
