Tanzania, Morocco in bid to strengthen ties, develop energy sector

RABAT, MOROCCO: TANZANIA and Morocco are exploring opportunities for collaboration between of two countries’ parliaments as well as strengthening strategic cooperation in energy development.
That was revealed by Tanzania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, who held official talks today, May 15, 2025, with the Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament, Rachid Talbi El Alami, and his Deputy Speaker, Lahcen Haddad, at the parliament offices in Rabat.
The two countries also discussed how to enhance diplomatic and economic relations.

The discussions took place shortly after Dr. Biteko toured the Moroccan Parliament, as part of his ongoing official visit to the country. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and Morocco, particularly in the energy sector and parliamentary diplomacy.
Dr. Biteko was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, responsible for East African Affairs, Denis Londo; the Assistant Director of the Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Rosemary Jeiro; as well as technical experts from Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy.
The talks focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration between the two parliaments and strengthening strategic cooperation in energy development, along with enhancing diplomatic and economic relations between Tanzania and Morocco.
