Tanzania joins other nations to celebrate Africa Day in Indonesia

INDONESIA: THE Embassy of Tanzania in Indonesia joined other African countries in celebrating Africa Day 2025 at a colorful event held recently in Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The celebration was attended by senior government officials from Indonesia, ambassadors from African nations, members of African communities living in Indonesia, as well as development stakeholders and friends of Africa.

The guest of honor at the event was Hon. Rachmat Pambudy, Indonesia’s Minister of National Development Planning. In his remarks, he commended the strong diplomatic ties between African countries and Indonesia and emphasized the importance of international solidarity in advancing Africa’s development.

The event featured a vibrant program that included exhibitions showcasing African cultural heritage, traditional music and dances, and displays of African cuisine.

Tanzania’s embassy stood out by presenting a variety of traditional Tanzanian dishes, which drew great interest from attendees. Due to the creativity and rich flavors of the meals, the Tanzanian booth was among the most visited during the event.

Africa Day is celebrated annually on May 25 to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963 now the African Union (AU). The day serves to honor African unity, cultural heritage, and the continent’s continued efforts toward social and economic development.
