Tanzania, IFC explore strategic investment partnership

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Treasury Registrar, Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu, has held discussions with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to explore areas of collaboration that would strengthen Tanzania’s investment landscape and drive economic growth.
The meeting, held in Dar es Salaam, brought together senior management from the Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) and IFC representatives led by Ms. Martine Valcin, IFC Country Manager for Tanzania, and Ms. Aida Sykes, an officer with the institution.
Speaking during the discussions, Mr. Mchechu emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships between government institutions and international organizations in advancing sustainable investments that support national development goals.
He noted that the OTR is keen on engaging with credible global partners like IFC to promote efficient management of public assets and foster private sector participation in key economic sectors.

Ms. Valcin commended Tanzania’s ongoing reforms to create a conducive environment for investment and expressed IFC’s readiness to work closely with the government in identifying viable opportunities that can deliver measurable impact.
The engagement signals continued efforts to position Tanzania as a hub for strategic and inclusive investments, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance productivity, create jobs, and boost national competitiveness in regional and global markets.
