Tanzania grants citizenship to Singida Black Stars trio

TANZANIA: THE Tanzania Immigration Department has officially granted citizenship to three players from Singida Black Stars: Emanuel Kwame Ayekeh (Ghana), Josephat Arthur Bada (Ivory Coast) and Muhamed Damaro Camara (Guinea).

In a statement signed by Senior Superintendent Paul Msele, the department confirmed that the players met all legal requirements for naturalisation under Tanzanian law.

“The named players applied for and were granted citizenship in accordance with sections 9 and 23 of the Tanzanian Citizenship Act, Chapter 357,” the statement read.

This announcement comes amid increased public interest and debate on social media regarding the players’ citizenship eligibility.

Singida Black Stars had previously acknowledged the players’ intention to seek Tanzanian citizenship. Spokesperson Hussein Masanza said that while the club supported the players throughout the application process, matters of citizenship are beyond their jurisdiction.

“As a football club, we have no authority to change anyone’s citizenship. The players followed all legal processes and we respected their choice,” Masanza stated.

With their new status, Ayekeh, Bada and Camara can now represent Singida Black Stars as Tanzanians.
