Tanzania: Fuel prices drop in September

DAR ES SALAAM: The retail prices of petrol and diesel in the country have decreased for September 2024, following a decline in global market prices by 7.68 percent and 6.22 percent in August respectively.

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) stated in a publication in the Daily News on Wednesday that a reduction in foreign currency adjustment costs, specifically in dollars by 0.91 percent, also contributed to the lower fuel prices this month.

It was noted that the cost of importing these fuels decreased in August, with petrol prices at the Dar es Salaam Port dropping by an average of 10.5 percent and diesel by 13.65 percent. The Tanga Port saw a decrease of 4.46 percent, and Mtwara Port recorded a reduction of 14.98 percent for both petrol and diesel.

The table of retail prices, as seen by the Daily News, indicates the new fuel prices effective Wednesday, September 4, 2024, showing a significant reduction across major ports.
