Tanzania engages a Brazilian firm in the trading of biodiversity credits

BRAZIL: A delegation from Tanzania’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, led by Dr. Siima Bakengesa, has held discussions with the management of Life Brazil, a company engaged in the trading of biodiversity credits, to explore effective ways of supporting Tanzania in selling such credits.
The talks took place at the Tanzania Pavilion during the COP30 Conference held in Belém, Brazil.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Siima said Tanzania is among the countries blessed with a rich diversity of living organisms (biodiversity). She noted that participation in the biodiversity credit trade will help the country generate more revenue and strengthen environmental conservation efforts.
It was further highlighted that Life Brazil has played a significant role in boosting Brazil’s economy through the biodiversity credit business, presenting an opportunity for Tanzania to learn from and collaborate with the company in this sector.
