Tanzania braces for maiden tour of Namibian President

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA readies to accord the Namibian President, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is expected to make an official visit to Tanzania from May 20 to May 21, 2025, following an invitation from President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The visit aims to strengthen political, economic, and social cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and education.

Tanzania and Namibia have enjoyed a long-standing fraternal and diplomatic relationship, and this visit is expected to open up new opportunities for cooperation that will bring tangible economic benefits to citizens of both countries.

President Netumbo will be officially received at the State House in Dar es Salaam by her host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Following the reception, the two leaders will hold private talks and later address the media on matters of bilateral interest.

During her stay in Tanzania, President Netumbo will also visit the African Liberation Heritage Centre in Dar es Salaam as well as the University of Dar es Salaam. These visits are intended to honor Tanzania’s historic contribution to Africa’s liberation struggles and to promote educational and cultural cooperation between Namibia and Tanzania.

This will be President Netumbo’s first visit to Tanzania since taking office on March 21, 2025. The visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in the historic and strategic partnership between Tanzania and Namibia.
