Tanzania asks the Diaspora to support the Samia Extended Scholarship program

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has invited Tanzanians living abroad to participate in the implementation of the Samia Extended Scholarship (DS/SI+) program.

The call was made by the Minister for Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda, in a meeting that was held virtually involving diasporans who specialize in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Science.

According to the ministry, the aim of the involvement is to increase the number of Tanzanians with skills in modern technology fields.

Participants in the meeting commended the Samia Scholarship Extended (DS/SI+) program and expressed their readiness to support it by offering professional advice, identifying study opportunities for qualified candidates, and even participating in the provision of training through various means.

The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Carolyne Nombo, along with the Special Committee overseeing the program, led by Professor Makenya Maboko.

Representatives from various institutions, including the Ministry, NM-AIST, and COSTECH, also took part in the meeting.
