Madeira, PORTUGAL: If you are thinking of traveling for exceptional wildlife views, Tanzania is the ideal destination.
The East African country has earned the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) title as the leading destination for safari tourism, particularly for wildlife viewing.
Tanzania was announced as the winner during the WTA awards gala held on Sunday night on the Island of Madeira, Portugal.
The awards are often regarded as the “Oscars” of the tourism industry.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi, led Tanzania’s delegation to receive the award in Madeira.
Speaking after accepting the award, Dr Abbasi thanked everyone who voted for Tanzania from across the globe, including tourism and conservation stakeholders.
“This award is clear evidence of our significant conservation efforts carried out by our leaders. It also reflects the substantial investments we are making in promoting tourism.
“The fact that so many people voted for Tanzania clearly shows that they visited the country and were impressed and satisfied with the pristine and natural beauty of our protected areas,” he noted.
