Tanzana sells 200,000 tonnes of sesame through TMX platform

LINDI: MORE than 200,000 tonnes of sesame produced by farmers from various regions across the country have been sold through the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX) – a digital platform for managing commodity auctions, overseen by the Ministry of Finance.
The announcement was made in Lindi Region by TMX Business Operations Officer, Mr. Mahama Kadikilo, who stated that the digital system has significantly transformed the agricultural market, particularly by ensuring that farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
Kadikilo explained that the platform enables transparent price competition among buyers, which in turn allows farmers to benefit more compared to traditional selling methods. He added that this competitive system has encouraged more farmers to use the formal and professionally managed auction system.
