DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has launched ‘Made in Tanzania’ logo competition aimed at promoting and enhancing the competitiveness of the country’s goods on the global markets.
TANTRADE Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis told reporters on Wednesday that the initiative results from the country’s desire to create a nation brandmark which will present the unique qualities, heritage and high standards.
“This logo is a strategic approach to building a country’s brand, enhancing its global presence and fostering economic growth by increasing consumer trust and recognition,” the TANTRADE DG said.
The country’s goods, according to Ms Khamis, are sometimes hard to be recognised in international markets since some businesspersons in other countries repack and rebrand them with their logo.
“Our aims are to ensure that Tanzanian products stand out, not jut in the regional markets but also on the global stage. “A strong identity will enhance our competitiveness, increase demand for Tanzanian goods and services and attract investment,” she said.

Despite many achievements, a unified national symbol that represents the excellence and uniqueness of Tanzanian goods and services in the global market is lacking.
“It is this area that the ‘Made In Tanzania’ logo competition seeks to address,” Ms Khamis said.
