Tantrade envisages to reach DITF target

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Trade Development Authority (Tantrade) has reached 95 per cent of registering firms that will participate in the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) that kicks off next Friday.

The organiser of the 48th DITF said the trend was encouraging as with some 10 days to go before the start of the fair, the target to register at least 3500 firms is reachable.

The Tantrade Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis, told the ‘Daily News’ over the weekend that “the target is attainable.” “So far so good,” Ms Khamis said, “Thanks to the strategy laid down the target is achievable.

And, we might pass the target.” She attributed the success to registering more countries than any other year which pulled also individual firms’ participation.

“The country’s economic diplomacy also contributed heavily to attracting exhibitors and the fair’s increasing activities—especially corporate days,” she said.

The DITF has positioned itself as an international trade promotion platform considered to be the largest in the Eastern and Central regions in terms of the number of exhibitors and visitors per event.

Others are Iran, Syria, Ghana, Oman, Pakistan, Mauritius, Russia, Egypt Mozambique, The Comoros and Italy. This year DITF’s slogan is ‘Tanzania is the right place for business and investment’.
