TAFF injects 1.4bn/- support to Forestry Industries Training Institute

MOSHI: THE Tanzania Forest Fund (TAFF) has handed over a cheque worth 1.4bn/- to support the improvement of infrastructure at the Forestry Industries Training Institute (FITI) located in Kilimanjaro Region.
Speaking at the 28th Graduation Ceremony of the institute, TAFF’s Executive Director, Dr Tully Msuya, said the funds are for the construction of a girls’ hostel to improve the learning environment and enhance the safety and well-being of female students.
During the colorful event, TAFF also awarded three top-performing students at the Certificate level with sponsorship contracts to enable them to continue their studies in the Diploma in Forestry Industries Technology worth 11.4m/-.

According to Dr Msuya, the sponsorship covers all institutional costs including tuition fees, registration, upkeep allowances for all the three students.
“This initiative aims to motivate academic excellence and produce more skilled professionals in forestry industry technology,” he said.

He added; “The Tanzania Forest Fund is responsible for supporting forestry institutions and ensuring they provide quality education aligned with labor market needs and environmental conservation. These funds will help expand FITI’s infrastructure, and this sponsorship enables students to pursue their studies without the barrier of financial constraints.”
Moreover, Dr Msuya noted that the fund will continue supporting forestry institutions until they achieve self-sufficiency in infrastructure, innovation, and produce competent graduates who will contribute to the development of the forestry sector in the country.
