THE ‘World’ is paying their tributes to the football Legend Sven Goran Ericksson who sadly passed away on 26 August at the age of 76.

Eriksson who was a former England and Manchester City manager dies after a long illness of cancer of which he revealed his diagnosis in January.

Speaking to the Irish sun newspaper in the UK in his latter days Eriksson said it started when he one day woke up feeling dizzy and was taken to the hospital.

After examination was conducted, they told him he had five small strokes, which said are not a problem, he could recover from that.

But they also gave him sad news that he had pancreatic cancer of which they couldn’t operate on.

The doctors added that they will give him treatment and medicine to prolong his life as long as possible.

On February he revealed that the doctors had given him ‘about a year ‘ to live after.

Since he learned of his illness, Sven spent most of his time in Sweden, his home country with his family home in Sunne.

In his final days he issued an emotional goodbye message just days before passing away.

A week before his death, Amazon prime released a documentary about his life titled ‘Sven’, which in it at the end he also gave the public a farewell.

The former England boss’ death was announced on Monday 26 August at his home surrounded by his family.

He is mostly remembered for his tenure at England National team.

During this time he led what was regarded as a ‘golden generation’ of players including David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, at the World Cups in 2002 and 2006 and got the team to the quarterfinals at both tournaments before elimination by Brazil and Portugal respectively.

Eriksson is survived by two children, Johan and Lina.
