Summit decorates Dr Gwajima as one of the 100 Most Influential Women

DODOMA: TANZANIA’S  Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Dr Dorothy Gwajima, has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential African Women for 2026.

The “Most Influential African Women” honor is awarded by the Africa Women Summit to 100 women across the continent who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, and significant contributions to social, economic, and political development in Africa and beyond.

The recognition celebrates women who are transforming narratives, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders.

In the 2026 edition, the list features prominent women from across Africa, with Dr Gwajima recognized for her work in promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, child protection, and the inclusion of special groups in Tanzania.

Receiving the award, the minister expressed gratitude, particularly acknowledging President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her global leadership in empowering women across economic and political spheres.

According to the minister, President Samia’s mentorship and support were instrumental in her journey to this achievement.

“I thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued commitment to creating opportunities for women and nurturing our leadership. This honor belongs to my entire team, and we will continue to work diligently with dedication and integrity to positively impact all citizens, especially those with special needs, in line with the President’s vision,” she said.
