State backs private sector in education drive

DAR ES SALAAM :THE government has reiterated its strong commitment to supporting individuals and institutions investing in Tanzania’s education sector.
Delivering remarks on behalf of Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Mr Albert Chalamila, Kinondoni Municipal Secondary Education Officer, Mr Mtundi Nyamhanga, urged Tanzanians and international investors to establish more schools both primary and secondaryto strengthen the nation’s education base.
Speaking during the launch of the Monti International School Transformation Programme in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, Mr Nyamhanga said the government remains committed to providing a conducive policy and investment environment for the private sector to thrive in the education space.

“Our national vision for education cannot be achieved by public efforts alone. We welcome citizens and investors who can establish quality schools and help us equip Tanzanians with global knowledge and competitive skills,” he said.
He added that Tanzania’s future depends on how well it prepares its young generation today particularly in a world that demands creativity, multilingual ability and critical thinking for success. Mr Nyamhanga applauded Monti International School for exemplifying holistic education that blends academics, sports and innovation.
The school follows the Cambridge International Curriculum, globally recognised for academic rigour and a skills-based approach.

“Monti provides students with a strong academic foundation while nurturing curiosity and global awareness,” he said, adding that its investment in sports infrastructure including a swimming pool, football pitch and multipurpose courts instils discipline, teamwork and resilience.
Addressing at the event, the school’s Founder and Head, Ms Fatma Fernandes, unveiled an ambitious expansion plan to open a new Madale Campus by 2026, which will introduce secondary education under the same Cambridge system.
“This marks a significant milestone in our journey,” she said. “We are extending from early childhood to secondary level, building not just a school but a legacy.” Monti currently has more than 150 pupils and operates.
