Stage set for Legends Reunion Cricket Festival 2024

DAR ES SALAAM: PLAN is underway for the Cricket Legends Reunion to stage the Cricket Legends of Tanzania Festival 2024.

The festival that brings together cricket legends living abroad and those in the country is set to start from the 25th to the 27th of October this year. Dinesh Vaishnav, a senior administrator and event coordinator for team Tanzania, told the ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday that Reunion Group Administrators and members of management led by Group Lead and England-based Kanu Rathod are pleased to announce the staging of a second festival.

He said that preparation is on top gear for the event that would spread words of love, happiness and smiles all over.

“With refreshed ideas coming from Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) chairman Balakrishan Sreekumar and support for the Patel Brotherhood Patel Samaj (PBPS) led by Harish Patel who celebrated its cricket festival along with our first reunion event in 2022, it has encouraged our group leaders to organise the event once again in Dar es Salaam,” he said.

Vaishnav noted that delegates are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam by Thursday 24th October, 2024.

“We have proposed that the event Programme will be split between Dar es Salaam and the historical sunny destination of Bagamoyo in the Coast Region,” he explained.

He said that team Tanzania is working on two options for the event to attain maximum joy and serve the aim of the Reunion.

However, Vaishnav said that the Reunion is considering invitations to acclaimed cricket legends from Kenya and Uganda, countries which joined them in the formation of the East Africa Cricket Conference which staged a Triangular tournament and played the coveted Sir Robert Menzes Trophy.

He appeals to legends to set their eyes on the event and give thought to having a successful event. Vaishnav stressed that the event would also allow legends who missed the first event to experience a wonderful festival.

“Let us meet again to strengthen our resolve to keep connected for the rest of our lives,” he insisted.

He said the proposed event will differ from 2022, but again, it is for the love of the game.

Over 37 legendary cricketers living abroad reunite with those living in the country to participate in the PBPS cricket festival held in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar in October 2022.
