DAR ES SALAAM: NEWLY crowned CECAFA Kagame Cup Champions Singida Black Stars have touched down in Kigali, ready to embark on their much anticipated continental journey this weekend against Rwandan giants Rayon Sports SC.

The match scheduled for Saturday marks their debut in the preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, Africa’s prestigious club competition.

Club Media Officer Hussein Massanza confirmed the team’s safe arrival, explaining that the squad departed Tanzania yesterday and has now settled in Rwanda to complete final preparations for this crucial fixture.

“Our team is in excellent shape — physically fit, mentally sharp and motivated. Riding high on the momentum of our recent CECAFA Kagame Cup victory, morale is soaring and the players are focused on delivering a strong and competitive performance,” Massanza stated confidently.

Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Miguel Gamondi, the technical bench has meticulously crafted training sessions aimed at tactical precision and team discipline.

The Argentine tactician is now poised to fine-tune their game plan in Kigali ahead of the showdown.

“Facing Rayon Sports, one of East Africa’s football powerhouses, is no easy task. But with our emphasis on discipline, teamwork and the passionate support from fans both back home and here in Rwanda, we are optimistic about securing a positive result. Inshallah, victory will be ours,” Massanza added. This encounter is not just a match — it’s a statement.

Singida Black Stars enter the competition on a wave of confidence, having lifted the CECAFA Kagame Cup earlier this month, a feat that has boosted their stature and belief that they can challenge continental heavyweights.

Singida’s clash with Rayon Sports kicks off an exciting preliminary round filled with other thrilling fixtures across the continent.

The road to continental glory kicks off with the Preliminary Round, contested over two intense legs on the weekends of 19–21 September and 26–28 September.

Winners from this stage will advance to the Second Preliminary Round, scheduled for 17–19 October, with return legs set for 24–26 October.

Triumph here paves the way to the prestigious Group Stage, beginning on 21 November, where the continent’s elite clubs will go head-to- head in a fierce battle for supremacy.

From the group battles, only the strongest will progress to the thrilling knockout phase, commencing on 13 March 2026, all driven by the ultimate dream— to lift one of African football’s most coveted club trophies and etch their name into history.
