Simba’s win fires warning shot to Azam

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA’s 3-0 blitz over Namungo at Majaliwa Stadium has fired a warning shot to Azam, their Premier League’s next opponent on February 24th this year.

Simba who hosts Azam at KMC Stadium on Monday, will meet Azam as a rejuvenated side as it seems to be well drilled this time around.

In their first-round match staged in September last year at Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, Simba won 2-0 with goals from Lionel Ateba and Fabrice Ngoma.

A fierce fight for the victory is much anticipated on Monday as Simba fans hope their team to overpower Azam buoyed by their recent form and head-to-head review.

Simba look unstoppable as the league hits its 20th round, but that doesn’t guarantee them an easy ride to the maximum points.

Jean Ahoua who netted a brace in their 3-0 win over Namungo, remains a lethal striker for Simba this season as he is leading the team’s scoreboard with 10 goals to his account.

Ahoua, who teams up with Ateba, Stephen Dese Mukwala, Joshua Mutale, and Kibu Dennis up front, has been scoring in almost every recent match Simba played.

Still, despite having a formidable squad, Feisal Salum, who is Azam’s midfield and striking force’s dynamo, likely to cause Simba big troubles if he is left to dictate terms in the middle of terrain.

The match against Azam is highly decisive as a win will see Simba claim 53 points and leapfrog their traditional rivals, Young Africans who command the Premier League helm with 52 points.
