Simba upbeat to clear RS Berkane hurdle

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN envoys Simba depart for Morocco early tomorrow, 13 May, ahead of their first leg match of the CAF Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane of Morocco on 17th May this year.
Simba are upbeat to perform better in their away leg so as to have a downhill task in their return leg match on May 25 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, the team’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ally, extended gratitude to the government for providing a private charter flight to enable the team’s travel.

He said the support will allow the team to focus fully on preparations by reducing travel fatigue and maximizing training time.
“With the private jet, we’ll fly directly from Dar es Salaam to Casablanca, and then proceed to Berkane. This kind of support brings stability and helps us prepare better for two of the biggest matches in African football,” said Ahmed.

As part of their campaign momentum, Simba has launched a rallying slogan for the final: “Tunabeba,” Swahili for “We take it”.
The slogan is aimed at inspiring fans and players alike ahead of the club’s historic continental showdown.
“We know our opponents are tough and have a strong record in this competition, but we are not intimidated,” added Ahmed.
“This final won’t be easy. We’re going to work hard, and we’re determined to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself like in 1993. This time, we want the trophy,” he noted.
RS Berkane, the 2020 and 2022 CAF Confederation Cup champions, are known for their competitive edge, but the Tanzanian envoys are determined to clinch the CAF trophy at any cost.
Simba sailed to the final after a 1-0 aggregate win over South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC in their semifinal stage.
Meanwhile, preparations are already underway for the return leg in Tanzania, with ticket sales launched and prices ranging from 7,000/- to 250,000/-.
Simba’s journey to the final marks a significant milestone for Tanzanian football, as the club looks to become the first team from the country to lift the CAF Confederation Cup.
