Simba to decide CAF fate today
DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA Coach, Abdelhak Benchikha said they will give 100 per cent performance against Jwaneng Galaxy while the latter’s trainer Morena Ramoreboli revealed that it is a lesson game to them.
Simba host Jwaneng Galaxy in their last Group B CAF Champions League (CAF CL) group stage match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.
Both sides are searching for an opportunity to make a breakthrough into the quarterfinals, making it a must-win duel for either side.
“It is a very important match for us, it is like a finale to us as in our group, only ASEC Mimosas have qualified…all the three remaining teams have equal chances.
“Wydad Casablanca must win and wait for the results of Simba, if Jwaneng Galaxy win they will wait for the result of Wydad Casablanca, but for us, if we win, we wait for no team and this is our advantage.
“We must play as we play, we must be strong and if we do like that, we will win for our fans and all Tanzanian fans who like Simba,” said the Algerian coach at a pre-match briefing yesterday.
He however forecasted a difficult match, saying Jwaneng Galaxy have been progressing in the way they play while reminiscing that their first leg match in Botswana was tough for them though they missed several scoring opportunities.
For Ramoreboli, he also anticipated a very competitive game from Simba, saying they play good football and that they are trying to become a constant team in the champions’ league like Simba.
“For us, it is all about the lessons we get from competing in this contest and this is the second time we have qualified in the group stage, the good thing is that we are playing away and hoping for a good game.
“We are hoping for the best match, both teams are playing good football, we are just hoping that it will be a good game and at this stage, Simba are at an advantageous position and it is about us to do what we need to do.
“Also, we are going to give room to some of our players to be featured in this competition,” said the South African coach.
As it stands in group B, ASEC Mimosas tops with 11 points, Simba are second courtesy of 6 points similar to Wydad Casablanca who also have 6 points while Jwaneng Galaxy sit at the bottom with 4 points.
