Simba halt ticket sales for CS Constantine game
DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’S representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Simba SC, have confirmed they will comply with the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) ruling to play their final group-stage match against CS Constantine behind closed doors.
The club will also pay the 40,000 US dollar (approximately over 100m/-) fine, as part of the sanctions imposed following violence during Simba’s match against CS Sfaxien on December 15 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
In an official statement, Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, acknowledged the CAF ruling and revealed that ticket sales for the match on Sunday have been immediately suspended in compliance with the decision.
“We urge our supporters to note that tickets already purchased for the match against CS Constantine will remain valid and can be used for the upcoming quarter-final match,” Ally stated.
“We deeply value the dedication of our supporters and the role they play in motivating the team. Although they will miss out on attending this match, their presence will be crucial in the quarter-finals as we pursue success.
“Right now, our priority is on technical readiness for Sunday’s match and we believe our current squad is well-equipped to compete for the trophies ahead of us,” he noted.

Simba’s Acting CEO, Zubeda Sakuru, also confirmed the penalty via the club’s social media channels.
“In accordance with CAF’s decision, we have halted ticket sales for the match against CS Constantine. For fans who have already purchased tickets, they will remain valid for the quarter-final match,” she said.
Heading into Sunday’s clash, Simba SC sit on second place in Group A with 10 points, securing their spot in the quarter-finals. CS Constantine lead the group with 12 points, while Bravos do Maquis have seven.
CS Sfaxien are at the bottom of the group with no point.
The match on Sunday will determine the group leader. A draw would be enough for CS Constantine to top the group, while Simba need a victory to claim the top spot.
