Simba enters final phase of structural transformation

  • Caretaker promises seamless transition, success

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC is entering the final phase of its structural transformation, a process that began in 2017 to turn the club into a professionally run and competitive institution.

Speaking at a media briefing in Dar es Salaam, Club’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Crencentius Magori confirmed that the club is preparing for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November, where key decisions will be finalised following government directives.

“We are preparing for our AGM this November, where we expect to finalise key resolutions. Once approved, this will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Simba,” said Magori.

The transformation includes plans to improve infrastructure, establish new training and administrative facilities, update the membership model and implement governance reforms based on a revised club constitution.

“This is not just an investor’s ambition. As Chairman, I am committed to making this a reality with urgency and sustainability.” Magori said.

Meanwhile, Simba SC’s newly appointed caretaker coach Hemed Suleiman arrived in Dar es Salaam yesterday to take the reins following the departure of former head coach Fadlu Davids, who recently joined Moroccan giants Raja Athletic Club.

Speaking to the press upon arrival, Suleiman expressed both pride and caution, acknowledging the high standards set by his predecessor.

“It’s a great honour to be trusted with this responsibility,” said Suleiman.

“But it’s also a big challenge. Coach Fadlu did an excellent job with Simba and you can see that from the recent 1-0 win against Gaborone United over the weekend. The bar is high and I have to deliver.”

Suleiman, who previously served with the club in various technical roles, said his focus is to maintain the team’s momentum and build upon the foundation already in place.

“My job now is to pick up where Coach Fadlu left off and keep the level of excellence going. I’ll give it my best to ensure Simba continues to perform at the top.”

The caretaker coach also noted the particular challenge of stepping in mid-season with a squad he didn’t personally assemble.

“Of course, it’s always a bit of a challenge when you come in and the players weren’t signed under your watch,” he said.

“But that’s part of the job. You have to take the squad, build chemistry quickly and bring joy to the fans. I believe we will do great.”

Looking ahead, Suleiman pointed to crucial fixtures in both the domestic league and the CAF Champions League.

“We have a big league match coming and the CAF Champions League tie against Gaborone United this weekend is absolutely vital. We must win at home to ensure we progress to the next round, then the group stage and hopefully beyond. I’m confident we can achieve that.”

Simba SC fans will be hoping that Suleiman’s return provides a seamless transition and continued success as the club eyes more silverware this season.
