Shime: Intensity and discipline driving our success

DAR ES SALAAM: TWIGA Stars Head Coach, Bakari Shime (pictured), has lauded his squad’s commanding performance after an electrifying 6-0 victory over Burundi in the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, held at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

The match showcased Tanzania’s dominance from the first whistle, with the Twiga Stars putting on a clinical display of teamwork, energy and attacking flair.

“We played with high intensity, which allowed us to create numerous scoring chances and dominate the match, although we missed a few clear opportunities, I’m proud of the team’s effort and discipline. We’re constantly learning and improving.” said Coach Shime during his post-match briefing.

Shime noted that while the scoreline was impressive and there’s still room for refinement particularly in front of goal.

“We squandered several chances that could have increased our tally. But what matters most is that we executed our game plan well, remained organised and walked away with all three points,” he said.

Meanwhile, Burundi will wrap up their group-stage campaign against South Sudan on June 21.
