Senior journalists receive training on tech revolution in China

BEIJING: SENIOR journalists and government officials from Tanzania, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast and Turkey are participating in an ongoing training seminar focused on leveraging the technological revolution as a catalyst for socioeconomic development.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Information Officer from Tanzania’s Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination) Mr Augustino Tendwa, said the “Seminar on Senior Management of Mainstream Media in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative” offers an important platform for journalists and government officials to grasp the technical knowledge essential to driving industrial transformation.
Mr Tendwa highlighted a key component of the programme where senior media professionals visited Laird Technologies, a global leader in electronic and connectivity solutions. There, the delegation witnessed China’s remarkable progress in technological innovation firsthand.

During the visit to Laird’s Beijing facilities, the group observed the company’s advanced production processes for high-tech components used in wireless communications, thermal management and vibration control.
“Laird Technologies exemplifies China’s advancement in science and technology through innovation and industrial research. This visit is a valuable opportunity for us to identify potential areas of collaboration that can help Tanzania enhance its own industrial and technological sectors,” said Mr Tendwa.
He emphasised that the seminar aims to build the capacity of senior media and government officials by exposing them to China’s development experiences, especially under the Belt and Road Initiative. Additionally, the programme highlights the critical role media plays in shaping public understanding, promoting international cooperation and attracting investment.
Tanzania’s involvement underscores the country’s commitment to learning from global best practices and utilising media and technology as key drivers of sustainable development.
