DAR ES SALAAM: SEA Cliff Resort & Spa Golf Club is gearing up to host one of Zanzibar’s most anticipated sporting events, the Sea Cliff November Golf Challenge, scheduled to tee off tomorrow at the scenic Mangapwani course.

The 18-hole Stableford tournament is expected to draw a strong field of top local golfers, experienced regional players, and prominent figures from the business communities of Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, according to Sea Cliff Golf Manager, Sophie Nyanjera.

Nyanjera, formerly an official with the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) and Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) confirmed that preparations are complete and the course is in pristine condition.

Among the confirmed entrants are standout golfers including Greg Eayrs, Martin Williams, Sjaní Müggenburg, Kazim Suleman, Collins Chemngorem, Musa Foum, Tazio Bercelli, Kevin Kibe, Patrick O’Rourke, Ali Katunda, Nurdin Mohammed, Ismail Sadricko, Nguvu Kamando, Ned Gathu, Francis Mhimbira, Chiku Elias (Honorary Treasurer of TLGU), Moses Mjema, and Sankei Ole Kenga, among many others.

Tournament officials are urging golfers who have not yet confirmed their participation to submit their preferred tee-off times as final preparations wrap up.

Nyanjera expressed gratitude to the event’s robust lineup of sponsors for making the November Challenge possible.

Key partners include Vodacom Tanzania, United Petroleum, Villa Kiva, Auric Air, Tanzanite Museum Zanzibar, Sea Cliff Resort & Spa and Sadricko Perfumes.

“Their support has enabled us to offer an exciting array of prizes from flight tickets and luxury fragrances to premium accommodation vouchers,” she noted.

The popular “hole 19” experience will once again be a highlight, with fine wines served at the Sea Cliff Clubhouse courtesy of Sankei Ole Kenga, a club member and Managing Director of Enkisoma Africa.

Nyanjera emphasised that the November Challenge continues to elevate the sport’s visibility in Zanzibar.

“These events are essential for promoting golf and strengthening community engagement. We are excited to welcome both new and returning players to what promises to be a thrilling tournament,” she said.

The tournament entry fee is 53 US dollars, inclusive of green fees, a golf cart, driving range access and lunch, an attractive package aimed at encouraging wider participation.

With golf participation steadily rising across Tanzania, events like the Sea Cliff November Golf Challenge are positioning Zanzibar not only as a beach tourism paradise but also as an emerging hub for competitive golf.

The December Challenge is scheduled for Saturday, December 27th, supported by major sponsors including Villa Kiva Resort and Zanzi Resort.
