MWANZA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to visit Mwanza Region tomorrow, where among other activities; she will grace the distribution of fishing equipment to fishermen and fishing groups in the Lake Zone regions.
“President Samia is expected to arrive in Mwanza Region on Tuesday (tomorrow) and is scheduled to distribute some fishing gears in an event which will be held at Nyamagana Stadium,” Mwanza Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Amos Makalla told journalists on Sunday.
He further said that the president will also address Mwanza residents at the same venue.
“The distribution of the fishing equipment will be coordinated by the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, and preparations are 100 per cent complete, said the RC.
“I ask Mwanza residents and those from neighbouring regions to come out in large numbers to accord the president a warm welcome at the Mwanza Airport and later at Nyamagana Stadium for the important activity of handing over the fishing equipment,” he pointed out.
He said that the gates of Nyamagana Stadium will be opened from 6am in the morning and asked the residents of the Lake Zone regions to arrive as early as possible at the stadium.
In the course, a total of 55 boats will be handed over to 989 fishermen from the Lake Zone regions.
In the list, Mwanza Region expects to get 26 boats, Mara (11), Geita (9), Kagera (eight) and Simiyu (one).
