Samia praises U-15 team

DAR ES SALAAM: IN a resounding moment of national pride, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated the Tanzania U15 National Team for their extraordinary feat of winning the CAF African Schools Football Championship for the second consecutive year.

The young stars demonstrated exceptional talent, grit and unity to emerge as champions in a tournament that brought together the best school-level teams from across Africa.

President Samia hailed the team’s historic achievement as a beacon of hope and a powerful symbol of Tanzania’s rising stature in youth sports. “I am extremely proud of your victory.

You have brought honour to our nation and ignited further enthusiasm for the development of sports in Tanzania,” the President said in her congratulatory message.

“Winning the African Schools Championship back-to-back is no small feat and it reflects the hard work, discipline and dedication of both the players and coaching staff.” She emphasised the transformative power of sports in fostering unity and shaping the future of the nation’s youth.

Reaffirming her government’s commitment, President Samia assured continued investment in grassroots and school-level sports to unlock the full potential of young athletes across the country.

In another groundbreaking achievement, the Tanzania Women’s National Futsal Team has reached the final of the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2025, after a dramatic 3–2 victory over Cameroon. With this win, the team has also earned a historic qualification for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines.

“Congratulations to our women’s futsal team for making it to the finals. We are proud of your achievement and the manner in which you continue to represent our country with courage and determination,” President Samia remarked.

“All Tanzanians are behind you. Keep flying our flag high.”

The women’s futsal squad has emerged as one of the standout teams in this year’s continental showcase, impressing with their tactical brilliance, teamwork and resilience. As they prepare for the final, hopes are high that they can cap their journey with the championship title.
