Samia, other African leaders extend warm wishes for Chinese New Year

WORLD: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has joined other world leaders in extending warm greetings to the People’s Republic of China as the Asian economic powerhouse celebrates the Chinese New Year 2024.
Through her X account (formerly Twitter), Tanzania’s Head of State expressed her wishes for a year filled with good fortunes, happiness, and prosperity as red lanterns decorate homes and neighbourhoods in China and their communities worldwide.
On his part, the President of Zanzibar, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, wished the Chinese a year of abundant joy and prosperity, emphasizing the growing diplomatic relations between Zanzibar and China.
Kenyan President Dr William Ruto, another leader from the EAC bloc, took to the X platform to wish the Chinese a colourful celebration.
He remarked that as they welcome the Year of the Dragon, which symbolizes good health, his desire is to see China and Kenya progress along the path they have jointly charted for the Kenya-China strategic partnership.
Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema also extended wishes for a prosperous New Year to China, expressing hopes that the auspicious Year of the Dragon 2024 would bring abundant joy, good health, and prosperity.
According to the Chinese zodiac, the Dragon represents strength, wisdom, luck, and prosperity and is associated with one of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, or water, each influencing the dragon’s personality and destiny.
