Samia officially inaugurates the national agriculture lab in Dodoma

DODOMA: TANZANIAN President Samia Suluhu Hassan has today, August 8, 2025, officially inaugurated the National Agriculture Laboratory in the Tanzanian capital, Dodoma.
The inauguration was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the official opening of the laboratory, which will also serve as the headquarters of the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI).
The laboratory has been established to conduct comprehensive research across the entire agricultural value chain. Activities at the facility will include the analysis of plants, soil, and harmful insects, as well as the detection of aflatoxins, which affect crop quality.

Additionally, the laboratory will be responsible for producing disease-free seedlings to help farmers achieve higher yields. It will also assess the quality of seeds before they are distributed to farmers, a move aimed at improving agricultural productivity in the country.
This inauguration is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector through science and technology, with goals that include improving productivity, ensuring food security, and increasing farmers’ incomes. The government believes that the establishment of this laboratory will significantly contribute to the transformation of agriculture in Tanzania.
