Samia, Mwinyi to grace Revolution anniversary

The one-month celebration programme will begin today (December 20) by President Mwinyi laying a foundation stone for the ongoing construction of flyover No 1 at Mwanakwerekwe area

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENTS Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr Hussein Mwinyi are expected to be among leaders in the country who are set to inaugurate or lay foundation stones of several development projects as part of the celebrations of the 61st anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.

According to the celebration timetable released by the office of the second Vice President, other leaders who will also take part in the celebration’s activities both from Zanzibar and Union governments include the Vice President Dr Philip Mpango, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Deputy Prime Minister Dotto Biteko, First Vice President Othman Masoud Othman and second Vice President Hemed Suleiman Abdulla.

The one-month celebration programme will begin today (December 20) by President Mwinyi laying a foundation stone for the ongoing construction of flyover No 1 at Mwanakwerekwe area and a car parking lot at Malindi in Zanzibar City.

On Saturday, President Mwinyi is also expected to lay a foundation stone for a passenger building at Terminal I, Passenger Building at Terminal II and Business Centre Terminal III and the launch of New Aircraft Navigation Lights and Aviation Fuel Station.

Dr Mwinyi is also scheduled to inaugurate or lay the foundation for twenty other development projects before the climax of the 61st anniversary on 12 January 2025 to be held at Gombani stadium in Pemba where Dr Samia and other national leaders are expected to join the celebration.

Before the climax, Dr Samia is expected to be the guest of honour at the opening of a luxury tourist hotel on Bawe Islet and will also be joined by other national leaders to officiate the opening or laying foundation stone for other projects: hotels, schools, water projects, hospitals and housing.
