Samia legal aid campaign resolves 27 conflicts in Lindi

LINDI: THE Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign has successfully resolved 27 out of 32 conflicts in Mtama District, Lindi Region, with the remaining cases being forwarded to the relevant authorities for further resolution.

Speaking to the residents of Mnolela, the campaign coordinator, Lawyer Rockus Komba, explained that the campaign aims to assist financially disadvantaged individuals in accessing legal services. He also mentioned that additional meetings addressing land and family disputes are continuing in six villages of the region.

On her part, the Head of the Gender and Children Desk, Joyce Kitesho, encouraged women to report cases of gender-based violence rather than remain silent.

Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign was launched in the Bariadi-Simiyu region in 2023.

The campaign aims to enhance access to justice for indigents through the provision of legal aid including legal counseling and education.

Among the issues the campaign fights is gender-based violence are escalating in the community.

Kitesho encouraged Legal Aid Providers to continue collaborating with the Government in the implementation of the Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign which will be implemented across the country for three years.

Meanwhile, the people of Mnolela have expressed their gratitude to the government for the support, noting that it will help reduce marital and land conflicts within their communities.
