SADC calls for stability in Madagascar
						BABATI: SOUTHERN African Development Community (SADC) countries have called for stability in Madagascar following a series of unrest and rebellions.
Vice-President, Dr Philip Mpango, participated in the emergency meeting of Heads of State and Government of the Political, Defence and Security Organization of the Southern African Development Community (SADC-Organ Troika Summit) on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, aimed at discussing the political situation in Madagascar.
The VP participated in the meeting held online from Babati in the Manyara Region.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Political, Defence and Security Organization of the Southern African Development Community, who is the President of the Republic of Malawi, Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The meeting discussed the political and security situation in the Republic of Madagascar following the recent military coup.
It also pledged to support efforts to restore peace and stability in the Republic of Madagascar and called on the people of Madagascar to ensure that the dialogue process is used to address the current situation and to abandon violence, looting, and destruction of property.

The meeting instructed the SADC Secretariat to ensure that it engages key stakeholders such as the United Nations, the African Union, and the Indian Ocean Commission to coordinate in finding a solution to the crisis in Madagascar.
