COAST REGION: COAST Regional Commissioner Mr Abubakar Kunenge has urged on residents in flood-prone areas of Rufiji District to follow professional advice and relocate to safer areas to avoid the adverse effects of flooding.
RC Kunenge made these remarks at a public meeting in Muhoro Ward, Rufiji District, during a visit by the Parliamentary Committee on Water and Environment over the weekend.
The committee was in the district for a one-day tour to inspect flood-affected areas and engage with local residents.
“Muhoro is an area exposed to ocean currents, which is why the government has identified alternative, safer locations for you to relocate to for your safety,” he said, urging residents to act swiftly on the environmental warnings issued by experts.

Committee Chairman Mr Jackson Kiswaga commended the government for its aid and support to the affected residents. He emphasised the importance of following government advice to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
