Ride hailing firm eyes tourism sector

TANZANIA: BOLT Tanzania has expanded its transport operations to Moshi in Kilimanjaro Region, with a focus on boosting the country’s tourism sector.

By offering reliable and efficient transportation services, Bolt is enhancing visitors’ ability to access key tourist spots, including Mount Kilimanjaro’s base camps and local attractions.

The Company’s General Manager, Mr Dimmy Kanyankole stated that the ride-hailing platform plans to expand into other regions where tourism is a key industry, aiming to benefit both local drivers and businesses by enhancing mobility.

“Local and international tourists prioritise security and affordability when it comes to local transport. They prefer spending on authentic cultural and culinary experiences rather than dealing with transport hassles or staying indoors to avoid inconveniences,” said Mr Kanyankole.

This expansion not only supports tourism growth but also contributes to the region’s economic development, making it easier for local and international travelers to explore the natural beauty and cultural offerings of the area.

He said by ensuring seamless mobility, tourism providers can attract more visitors, boost local economies and enhance the reputation of the region as a welcoming and well-connected destination.

Moshi, home to Africa’s tallest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, and a vibrant hub for both locals and international tourists, now benefits from Bolt’s convenient ridehailing platform.

Therefore, he noted, this expansion enhances accessibility and mobility for visitors exploring the region’s attractions.

The launch aligns with the city’s growing need for modern and diverse transportation solutions that cater to its increasing population and growing tourism sector.

He said the arrival of Bolt in Moshi brings multiple community benefits, including new job opportunities for drivers, environmental sustainability through the expansion of electric motorcycles in Arusha and a boost to the tourism sector by facilitating greater mobility for travel and adventure enthusiasts.

Bolt’s expansion supports key government initiatives aimed at stimulating the economy and aligning with Tanzania’s infrastructure development.

Following its launch in Morogoro after the introduction of the standard gauge railway last year, Bolt continues to broaden its reach in tourism-driven regions, empowering local communities and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
