REA’s clean energy campaign benefits 52 Tanzanian Schools, VETA College

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Rural Energy Agency (REA) has signed contracts for the installation of clean cooking energy infrastructure in 52 secondary schools and one VETA college across the country.
The signing ceremony was led by REA’s Director General, Engineer Hassan Saidy, in Dar es Salaam, together with representatives from TAIFA Gas Ltd and Hanny G Ltd. The initiative marks the first phase of implementing an agreement aimed at equipping institutions that serve more than 100 people with clean cooking energy systems.
“Today’s event continues the implementation of the Clean Cooking Energy Strategy launched by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Engineer Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, on May 8, 2024, as well as the government directive issued in 2024 banning the use of firewood and charcoal in all institutions serving more than 100 people,” he said.
Engineer Saidy explained that the project will involve installing clean cooking systems in 52 secondary schools and one VETA college to further promote the use of clean energy in the country.
