RC commends stakeholders as region ranked 2nd in PSLE

DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule, has commended education stakeholders for their efforts in improving academic performance at all levels, which have seen the region ranked second among the 26 regions of Mainland Tanzania in the 2025 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) results.

Ms Senyamule made the remarks in the capital city recently when she chaired the Dodoma Regional Consultative Committee (RCC)’s maiden meeting for the 2025/2026 financial year, which focused on discussing various regional development issues, including strengthening the economy, improving the delivery of social services and overseeing the implementation of government projects and programmes.

“The region has continued to register improvements in the education sector due to sustained efforts, resulting in increased pass rates, particularly in Standard Seven examinations. Three years ago, we were in the middle ranks, but this year, out of 26 regions, we ranked second nationally. We are not only improving nationally but also in overall average performance,” Ms Senyamule noted.

She added that Bahi District Council ranked first nationally. Members of the meeting also discussed the importance of economic self-reliance through education, entrepreneurship and the effective utilisation of available resources.

Stakeholders emphasised education as a key tool to empower citizens to address livelihood challenges and actively contribute to the regional economy.

Speaking on the Universal Health Insurance (UHI), Director of Policy, Research and Innovation from the Ministry of Health, Mr Tumainiel Macha, said the ministry plans to introduce a comprehensive benefits package covering 372 services.

According to Mr Macha, the package will enable citizens to access healthcare services from dispensary to hospital level at a cost of 150,000/- per household of six members. Presenting a report on water supply in Dodoma City, Dodoma Urban Water supply And Sewerage Authority (DUWASA) Director Engineer Aron Joseph said the authority has increased water production from 79 million litres to 88 million litres per day, a move that has helped to reduce water shortages.

Among the resolutions reached during the meeting was a directive for local government authorities to establish and strengthen Universal Health Insurance systems to ensure citizens access affordable and quality healthcare services.

The councils were also urged to formulate robust strategies to establish ICT laboratories in schools to enhance students’ technological skills
