LINDI: YOUNG Africans head coach, Saed Ramovic has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their 2-0 away victory against Namungo FC in a match held at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi over the weekend.

The win marked a return to form for the defending champions, with Ramovic noting that his players are gradually finding their rhythm.

He acknowledged the challenges of integrating a new coach mid-season but praised his players for their positive attitude and willingness to adapt to his coaching style.

“We have 26 good players in our squad and they need time to fully understand me and fit into my system,” said Ramovic.

The coach also praised his players for their positive attitude, emphasising the importance of treating every training session with the same intensity as a competitive match.

“They have shown great attitude. What they need now is to approach every practice like a game,” he added.

Ramovic described the 2-0 victory as a promising start for the team, setting them on the right path toward their goal of league success.

“It was the right start. We are heading in the right direction. We have smart players with a strong sporting attitude,” he said.

However, Ramovic also took a moment to commend Namungo FC’s defence, calling it resilient and noting their compact style of play, which posed challenges for Yanga throughout the match.

On the other side, Namungo FC head coach Juma Mgunda acknowledged that while the two teams were evenly matched on the field, Yanga’s superior player quality ultimately decided the outcome.

“We lost at home against a team that matched us on the pitch, but the difference was the quality of their players,” Mgunda said.

Despite the defeat, Mgunda highlighted some positives in his team’s performance and promised to address the weaknesses that led to their loss.

When asked if Yanga’s new coach caught Namungo off guard, Mgunda dismissed the notion, stating, “There haven’t been significant changes a coach can make in such a short time.”

Yanga, the defending champions, currently sit in third place with 27 points, tied on points with second-placed Azam FC and at the top of the table is Simba SC with 28 points.

However, Azam FC could leapfrog Simba and take the top spot if they emerged victorious in their match against Dodoma Jiji, which was scheduled for Sunday night.
