Ramovic applauds team’s effort to keep CAF dreams alive

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans head coach Sead Ramovic commended his team for their impressive 3-1 victory over TP Mazembe on Saturday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

This crucial win has reignited Yanga’s hopes of advancing beyond the CAF Champions’ League group stage. In his post-match comments, Coach Ramovic underscored his team’s focus and determination, highlighting their fierce fight from the first whistles to the last, which showcased their unwavering commitment throughout the match.

“We played against a strong side and while luck was on our side today, I congratulate them for their fair and competitive performance.

The atmosphere was fantastic and my players showed resilience throughout the game. They executed the plan that I have been advocating for,” Ramovic said.

Ramovic credited the entire team, from the players and coaching staff to the fans, for their collective efforts. “A lot of credit goes to my staff. They have been doing excellent work behind the scenes.

The fans have been incredible, offering us unwavering support throughout,” Coach Ramovic stated. “Now, we must shift our focus to the upcoming matches, but we have full confidence in ourselves.

That said, if we continue to squander the opportunities we create, it will cost us. We need to improve in that area moving forward.” Despite the victory, the coach highlighted the need for ongoing improvement.

“We are working well as a team. We played effectively both with and without the ball and we will continue to improve,” he said.

On the other side, TP Mazembe head coach Lamine Ndiaye noted that his team failed to capitalise on their chances, which he identified as a critical setback that led to the loss.

“We created many opportunities but could not convert them into goals. My players made several mistakes, resulting in the three goals conceded. This defeat was not a matter of Yanga’s quality; it was our own mistakes that cost us.

The team was not at its best today,” he explained. With this victory, Yanga has moved up to third place with four points, tied with second-place MC Alger.

At the top of the table is Sudanese side Al Hilal, while TP Mazembe sits at the bottom with two points.
